Georgia Statistics System: Employment Analysis

This part of the Georgia Statistics System will deliver a shift-share analysis of year-to-year changes in employment among 12 major industry categories. It uses the database in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' Census of Employment and Wages, for the years 1990 through 2011. More info about the CEW can be seen at http://www.bls.gov/cew/home.htm.

You can do the analysis for a single county or group of counties. It is more realistic to do the analysis for a group of counties because a functional economic area usually contains a home county plus the contiguous neighboring counties. This is because peoples' commuting and shopping patterns always spill out into neighboring counties. This is especially true in Georgia, because the counties are geographically small.

Step 1: Select the counties you wish to analyze by clicking on the graph
